Frequently Asked Questions

We have a Covid-19 page to answer your questions.  You can find this here.

You can make a general enquiry or booking request through our contact page.  But if you’d prefer to talk to us please call on 07912 207044. We always try and reply on the same day.

We do appreciate some guest’s wish to book for shorter weekend breaks.
However, there is one option:

During the quieter months (presently November and December), we can offer three nights for the price of four nights – which is currently £560.00. Kindly note, this is the shortest stay we can offer.

Unfortunately, shorter stays are no longer feasible due to cleaning and change over safety procedures.

  • We currently provide a complimentary welcome package to all of our guests.  This includes:

1. Two Chimps Coffee for the cafetiere in the kitchen – you can choose between regular or decaffeinated coffee.

2. A selection of Hambleton Bakery pastries or from the Larder Oakham.

If you have any food intolerances or dietary preferences please let us know beforehand so we can arrange something more to your liking.

Our check in time is 3.00 p.m. & our check out time is 10 a.m.

Please note, we regularly undertake same day change overs, hence unfortunately we are unable to offer changes to these times.

Our off season rate is £135 per night (through our website).  We request a minimum 6 to 7 night stay..

Our school holiday season rate is £155 per night.  We request a minimum 7 night stay.

Our Easter and Christmas rate is £165 per night. We request a minimum 7 night stay.

Our special event (such as Burghley Horse Trials or Bird Fair) rates are £175 per night. We request a minimum 6 night stay.

Yes, we certainly do.  We have a You Tube Video here.

We’re afraid the Oakom Yoga Studio is no longer attached to the cottage, this shutdown during the covid-19 period.

It won’t be too long until a new yoga studio opens in Oakham…so, what this space we’ll let you know when one does (kindly note, unfortunately not run by us).

Rutland is a very special place to visit, almost a hidden gem to some.  A good place to visit to answer this question is the ‘our area’ website.

Discover Rutland also explains more about Rutland county.  A new video about Rutland provides a better understanding too.

There is ample car space opposite the cottage (a relatively quiet road).  There is also space on the gravel driveway to the left of the cottage behind some metal gates, as it is a tight and narrow space we leave it to the discretion of our guests to park on the driveway.

Rutland is becoming more dog friendly year on year.  There are many pubs and local shops and areas which allow dogs.  We have a list of suggestions or ideas which are specifically dog friendly and we’re happy to send this information before you book – please just ask and we’ll send this your way.

The cottage can sleep up to five adults in total.  There is a master bedroom, a twin bedroom and one single bedroom downstairs.  Sorry we do not allow additional people to stay on blow up beds.

There is also a travel cot available at the cottage.  You’re welcome to use this but please bring your own cot sheets and cot duvets, thank you.

Please follow the accommodation or layout links to see more photos and videos.

We frequently create special offers on our availability and rates page and home page.  Please keep an eye out…as they go quickly!

You’ll be able to find your terms and conditions on your booking form.  These are available on request via email if you’d like them before a booking is made.

Many old features remain within the cottage. Because of this we advise to our guests that few accessibility amendments have been made and some lower ceilings & beams remain a feature in the cottage. More specific details and photographs (e.g. stairways & handle bars) can be provided upon request.  Also, a new video & layout map has been made to help guests understand the general space within the cottage.

Every guest is entitled to two fluffy towels.  We provide freshly made beds so there is no need to bring any bed linen.

Smoking & vaping is strictly not permitted at the Bee Cottage Rutland!

No.

The cottage has a thatched roof meaning any form of smoking causes a significant fire hazard both inside and outside of the cottage.

Vaping has also been proven to cause fires within building, therefore vaping  is strictly forbidden within and outside of the cottage.

Please ensure to contact us immediately as we’ll run this by our cleaners so they can attempt to resolve this situation.

Please do not pour any products over the spillage – as this may cause it to stain.

About us

We welcome guests to connect with us on their stay.

Our names are Steve & Hanri – we have hired out two of our previous homes as holiday lets, but the
Bee Cottage is our first dedicated holiday let, and by far our greatest renovation project.

Steve has recently finished a Masters Degree in Sustainability, and also crafts furniture from reclaimed
wood (examples can be seen in the Master bedroom headboard & side tables, the TV table, coffee table and some shelves
around the cottage). Hanri is a Yoga Teacher, Patterns Designer Photographer.

We recently renovated a new Yoga Studio central to Oakham – we’ve named it Oak Om.  If you’re interested in Yoga, Pilates or Tai Chi, please contact us to find out what offers are available as a staying guest.

Steve and Hanri enjoy walks with our rescue dog chunk and keeping fit.

Our one person green team

We are delighted to announce our very talented gardener – Martina!

Martina is our long standing gardener.  She”ll be visiting the Bee Cottage Rutland by making the most of our front and back garden area on Friday’s.

Martina has a honest passion for gardening and she’ll be maintaining our foliage within a green and white theme.

To keep in sync with the bee’s, Martina will be bringing the flowers and plants back to their full pollen-potential!

Welcome Martina and we look forward to see what magic you will bring to the cottage.
