The Bee Cottage Rutland is a historic 16th-century thatched cottage located in Cottesmore village, near Rutland Water. With original exposed beams, a wood-burning stove, and ample living space, it can accommodate up to five guests. Originally a doctor’s house, it offers a charming and picturesque stay.
Despite its quaint appearance, the cottage has a generously sized living space. Featuring a separate seating area around close to a wood burner, a cozy reading corner, and a tranquil conservatory perfect for enjoying a cup of tea, this property is ideal for relaxation. The bright dining room, located between the kitchen, lounge, and conservatory, provides ample space for leisurely breakfasts or dinner for up to six guests.

We wished we could have extended our stay but Bee Cottage is popular. Despite being an old property it was really warm, cosy and comfortable. it was surprisingly spacious... read more with several seating areas. We especially loved the conservatory and looking through it from the dining table. Steve's and Hanri's creative talents can be seen throughout. They've done an excellent transformation.
Hambleton Bakery and Cafe is just a mile away and from there one can walk to Fort Henry and Exton Park.

Absolutely beautiful cottage, in a beautiful village. Excellent position, perfect distance from the pub, and the fish and chip shop provided a top notch meal.
Couldn't fault the facilities... read more in the cottage, everthing you could need, easy to find.
Highly recommend this a a base to explore Rutland and the surrounding areas.

Really appreciated the laminated suggested walks which we made good use of.
Really couldn't have asked for anything more.
The only thing I'd mention for future dog owners is that, although the garden is very safe, my little monsters quickly learnt how to jump over the front gate. Just something to be aware of!

We had such a lovely long weekend at Bee Cottage!
The cottage itself is a beautifully renovated 16th century property. We especially appreciated the log burner in the... read more gorgeous open plan lounge, which made for lovely cosy evenings on the sofa.
Lots of really nice little touches, from the personalised welcome pack (including a huge slice of amazing vegan chocolate cake!) to the helpful cottage handbook and well equipped kitchen.
It's easy to find, with clear directions and parking directly outside. The surrounding area is beautiful, very quiet, but with plenty to see and do nearby. I'd highly recommend lunch or just a drink at the Finch's Arms, a short drive away in Hambleton.
We will definitely be back to visit in the summer if we can!

The hosts were really helpful and the welcome pack was... read more much appreciated. I love Rutland, having been born and bred there and every time I come back it feels like coming home. Bee Cottage made this feel even more special. My daughter said the bed downstairs was the best she’d ever slept in!

The Bee Cottage was a great place for 5 friends to meet up for a weekend. The sitting room was cosy and warm, but spacious enough for 5 adults to... read more sit comfortably and chat. The log burner was great and the house soon warmed up. The local ground coffee and mince pies were a lovely welcome treat - a very nice touch. The house was beautifully decorated and a real pleasure to stay in. Would definitely stay here again if meeting up again as a party of 5 again.
We had a lovely evening in Oakham, made extra special by Chris & Bianca who run Ovation, a cocktail bar in town. They provided a very reasonably priced car service so we didn't have to worry about taxis, and we had a reserved table for both pre- and post-dinner drinks. We were very well looked after.
All in all we can definitely recommend The Bee Cottage for a relaxing weekend catching up with friends - could not fault it.
