About us

Hi!

We’re Steve and Hanri, the proud hosts of this charming old cottage.

Since 2018, we have successfully operated Bee Cottage, honing our skills in providing exceptional hospitality. While we had previously rented out two other homes as holiday lets, Bee Cottage is our first dedicated holiday rental and our most impressive renovation project to date.

Steve, an ex-teacher, has a passion for crafting furniture from reclaimed wood. You’ll discover his creations sprinkled throughout the cottage. When not managing bookings and connecting with guests, Steve can be found on the local tennis courts or stringing tennis rackets for fellow players.

Hanri, a local Yoga Teacher, infuses her creative flair into Bee Cottage. Besides helping at the cottage, she runs an online sewing pattern business and has contributed her sewing skills to various items in the cottage.

During your stay, feel free to connect with us and bask in the peaceful surroundings. We adore Rutland and enjoy taking walks with our rescue dog, Chunk, or staying active at the local Oakham tennis Club.

Discover comfort, tranquility, and our warm hospitality at Bee Cottage Rutland. We eagerly await the opportunity to host you!

Our Gardener
- Paul -

Paul, from Flying Oyster Services,  has been working with us for number of months now.  We are certainly over the moon with everything which he has brought to our garden.

Bringing any form of wildlife back into the garden is always a delight to both hear and see. Sitting back and watching nature happen is often a thrill for many of our guest’s.

Yes, we certainly do.  We have a You Tube Video here.

Rutland is a very special place to visit, almost a hidden gem to some.  A good place to visit to answer this question is the ‘our area’ website.

Discover Rutland also explains more about Rutland county.  A new video about Rutland provides a better understanding too.  Some of our guests even choose to live here onwards after visiting.

There is ample car space opposite the cottage (a relatively quiet road).  There is also space on the gravel driveway to the left of the cottage behind some metal gates, as it is a tight and narrow space we leave it to the discretion of our guests to park on the driveway.

We frequently create special offers on our availability and rates page and home page.  Please keep an eye out…as they go quickly!

You’ll be able to find your terms and conditions on your booking form.  These are available on request via email if you’d like them before a booking is made.

Many old features remain within the cottage. Because of this we advise to our guests that few accessibility amendments have been made and some lower ceilings & beams remain a feature in the cottage. More specific details and photographs (e.g. stairways & handle bars) can be provided upon request.  Also, a new video & layout map has been made to help guests understand the general space within the cottage.

Every guest is entitled to two fluffy towels.  We provide freshly made beds so there is no need to bring any bed linen.

Smoking & vaping is strictly not permitted at the Bee Cottage Rutland!

No.

The cottage has a thatched roof meaning any form of smoking causes a significant fire hazard both inside and outside of the cottage.

Vaping has also been proven to cause fires within building, therefore vaping  is strictly forbidden within and outside of the cottage.

Please ensure to contact us immediately as we’ll run this by our cleaners so they can attempt to resolve this situation.

Please do not pour any products over the spillage – as this may cause it to stain.
